      Why do Denverites keep their holiday lights lit through January?

      The National Western Stock Show has been held every January in Denver since 1906. Since the 1920’s, Denver has kept the holiday lights on at the City and County Building to welcome Stock Show visitors and create a festive atmosphere. It’s a tradition for residents and businesses to also keep their lights on during the Stock Show.

      At my house, we keep them up through the Stock Show AND as long as the Broncos are still playing. So, who knows, my holiday lights may still be lit through Super Bowl Sunday on February 8.
