Denver once was in Arapahoe County

Do you know that the town of Denver was originally in Arapahoe County, and, in fact, the Arapahoe County Seat? Arapahoe County was created in 1861 as part of the Colorado Territory. It stretched from Sheridan Boulevard in Denver east to the Kansas border. Denver was the Arapahoe county seat until 1901 when the Colorado General Assembly carved Denver County and Adams County out of Arapahoe County. Today, Littleton is the Arapahoe County seat.
