The Four Mile House began as a farmhouse along Cherry Creek and the Smoky Hill Trail in 1859, four miles from the hopeful new town calling itself Denver City. During the Gold Rush era, it became a popular rest stop and inn for weary travelers on their way to Denver or the gold fields beyond. Since it was originally constructed, it has been enhanced with additions and outbuildings on what is now a seven-acre living history farm museum that offers a taste of the region’s more rural past just a few miles from bustling downtown Denver. Today you can visit Four Mile Historic Park along the Cherry Creek at 715 S Forest St.
